The Easter bunny has to be careful where it hides the eggs this year as they could be very hard to find under the snow. So I don’t know if the bunny is praying that the kids can find the eggs or just praying that spring will come so there would be clovers to eat.

I thought I heard a chipmunk scampering by the retaining wall and that is the only place he could stand up to see above the snow line. Everywhere else he would need very tall stilts since the snow is still rather deep even with a couple of melting days.

This morning there has been a war on between me and the squirrels. I have a half dozen gray squirrels raiding the bird feeders and they aren’t scared of my cat or me. Now if they would have been busy last fall putting their nuts in the hollow tree like this red squirrel did instead of burying the acorns all over my lawn that they can’t find now under the deep snow, they wouldn’t have to stealing my bird seed!

When clearing a heavy snowfall, sometimes it is hard to figure out where the driveway is so today I could actually see some lawn after the melting yesterday since I cleared some snow off the lawn instead of the driveway. But the lawn is brown and no green showing. Sometimes it is even hard to find green on a old rusty tractor and you have to search to find it.

There is no sun out today to shine on the Jack-in-the-pulpits even if the snow wasn’t two feet deep but if they were blooming, ‘Jack’ would need a hood to keep the snow off his head this weekend since more snow predicted.

The squirrel made tracks in the snow when I chased him off my bird feeder, but so far old man winter hasn’t made tracks yet. The squirrel keeps returning and so does winter.

The new calves arriving the past few months are probably wishing for spring to arrive too as green grass and warm sunshine are more inviting than snow drift and cold winds.

To close out this week’s summer clouds theme, haying during the summer time quickly comes to mind. Haying methods have changed over the years but I know it is much easier to look at the hay in the fields than to be stacking hay bales on a wagon!

Some summer skies aren’t filled with white, puffy clouds but are bursting with fiery red instead. Maybe a blazing sky can melt the snow and allow spring to appear.
