My deer ate one patch of three trilliums, but they missed these three great white trillium at least for today. Although I suspect they will be eaten soon as the deer really like this kind of trillium, but they leave the nodding trilliums alone. The repeated grazing by the deer cause the blossoms to be smaller each year or even kill the plants.

During the heavy rains, the marsh marigolds should have been renamed lake marigolds or river marigolds, but after a few drier days, the yellow blooms in the ditches back to more normal conditions.

As people celebrated Mother’s Day, this female wood duck was very upset by the noise from the neighbor’s tractor working in the field next to my pond. Instead of sitting on the eggs, she kept getting up in case she had to flee from the unexpected tractor noise.

When the forecast is good to see the Northern Lights, you would expect to have to look north to see them, but with the high geomagnetic activity this evening, there were pink Aurora rays looking south just after sunset.

All the rain is making the grass grow as well as the dandelions, but this calf probably prefers the day when it isn’t raining.

The Spring Beauty blossoms are popping up in my woods and I mowed around some patches on the farm lawn. These flowers close up at night and on cloudy days, so they like the sunshine like I do.

As the birds return and the year around birds shed their dull winter coat, the bird sunflower feeders show a rainbow of colors. The Goldfinch summer’s bright yellow feather pop next to the brilliant blue of the Indigo Bunting. And the red patch standout among the white and black of the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
