Yesterday’s thunderstorms damaged a lot of buildings and this old barn might have had wind damage in the past too as it has a patched roof of newer metal.

The chipmunks have finally stopped digging into all my flower and garden pots, probably since the flowers look pretty ragged from the season and constant uprooting from my little furry monsters, but they are finding other ways to cause trouble like sneaking into my garage. It is much nicer to see them in the woods than in my house.

The cold, rainy day was not a good day to hike on trails to look at changing colors of leaves and if any leaf looking was done, it would have been more comfortable from a car or inside the house.

The sunsets range in color by the time I view the sunset and amount of clouds to reflect the light. They often are in the orange tones until they turn pink and then to purple as dark approaches.

The small amount of water flowing down the falls would have increased to a greater and wider flow after this evening thunderstorms. On light flows, it could work as a nice little shower on a hot summer day.

A lot of the summer birds have left and headed south already, like the wrens, grosbeaks and orioles, but not all the ducks have left and have been enjoying the warm fall days.

On this warm September day, it would have been a good time to hike the shaded tree lined path besides a small stream to view a fifty foot waterfall and maybe catching some water mist too.

The tree frogs were ‘singing’ rather loudly this afternoon, but I don’t know if my rescued tree frog, who wintered over in my house and released in the spring, was part of the chorus today.

In rural Dunn County of Wisconsin park, visitors can walk the same floors of the house where Caroline Augusta Woodhouse lived, the young girl who inspired the book Caddie Woodlawn. Caddie’s family moved to the area in 1857 and the book written by her granddaughter won the 1935 Newbery Award for children’s literature.
