The tools of the past are interesting to look at, but today the most important item is the pile of wood next to the barn wall and hopefully a fireplace or furnace to make use of the wood on this cold day which has temperatures feeling more like January than November.

A week worth of time and wind can change the appearance of my lawn. Most of the pretty red leaves from the burning bush are now covering the ground leaving just a scattering of leaves on the bush.

The sun finally made an appearance although the temperatures are still below the average but at least it feels better than the gray days. There isn’t many flowers remaining after a string of below freezing nights and the wind have left very few milkweed pod with seeds since most have taken flight.

Before the ground freezes up, one task is to clean up anything off the ground which might be frozen into the mud until spring. So it is a good time to get the scrap metal hauled off and this truck load looks like it has a metal robot sitting down.

The low temperatures overnight will be chilly again and lately the mornings have started out white; either from snow or frost. With a long stretch of below average temperatures makes the arrival of winter seem too early.

There are a few hardy violas braving the freezing temperatures. This morning they only had some leaves falling on them but by afternoon those cold snowflakes were falling again.

The snow melted today with the temperature in the upper 30s and revealed the leaves that haven’t been raked up yet. But it might be a game of hide and seek if more snow tomorrow recovers the leaves if I don’t get them cleaned up or the wind doesn’t blow them away.
