The wind was blowing stuff around today, like the empty sunflower hulls and snow, but I would rather see some dancing flowers waving around in the strong breeze instead.

There have been interesting tracks in the new coating of snow over the last several days. Especially when i spotted both squirrel and birds tracks that slipped on the hidden ice under the snow. And I don’t mind the squirrel tracks going between the trees, but I don’t like the tracks heading to my bird feeders.

The birds seemed to be extra chipper once the sun came out this afternoon, even if the temperature was below freezing. The chickadees and finches were making lots of trips to the feeder in the sunshine and singing in the trees in between trips.

It was another gray day, with even a light coating of snow overnight, so it wasn’t a bright or colorful Sunday. It will be six months before these sunny flowers provide some bright yellow in my yard.

The falling white from a waterfall during the summertime looks and feels warmer than the white winter landscape that is outside my window now. Little Manitou Falls is located in Wisconsin’s Pattison State Park with about a thirty-one foot drop over a basalt-rock ledge.

The morning started out extra white again but not from frost this time, but heavy wet snow that caused many tree limbs bend towards the ground but at least the wind and temperature just above freezing helped to remove the snow from the trees.

By morning, there will probably enough new snow on the ground for this cat to bury its head, although I sure don’t know why it would want to dig in the cold stuff but there is that pull of new snow waiting to be played in.

The winter decoration makes this burdock head look even more spiky but at least the icy barbs will melt and not get embedded in your skin.

The trees were fairly free of frost this morning without the foggy start of the day. The sun was out for part of the day but there wasn’t much rime ice left to shine on, not like earlier in the month when the white formations popped against the blue sky.
